SH48210 Heinkel He 177A-3 Greif
SH48210 Heinkel He 177A-3 Greif
The Heinkel He 177 Greif was the only German four-engine bomber deployed in significant numbers during World War II. Although its operational service was not entirely successful, the He 177 remains one of the most iconic Luftwaffe aircraft. Its design concept was highly unusual. In each wing, two engines were mounted side by side and connected to a common gearbox driving a single four-bladed propeller. As a result, the bomber appeared to be powered by only two engines.
This model kit has already been released previously, and now returns with redesigned smaller parts produced using new metal tooling, while preserving the original short-run moulds. The decal sheet offers markings for two Luftwaffe aircraft. One participated in Operation Steinbock, the Luftwaffe bombing offensive against Great Britain launched in the spring of 1944. The operation resulted in heavier German losses than successes and was mockingly nicknamed “Baby Blitz” by the British. The second marking option features an aircraft with distinctive yellow trim and is provided in two different variants.
